Iconic Motorsport Adventures

 Indianapolis 500

The Indianapolis 500 race is probably the most iconic motorsport event in the world and this year celebrated 100 years since the first race held at the speedway. With more than 300,000 spectators it is also the biggest single day sporting event. Witnessing speeds of over 350km/hr is an awesome spectacle that has to be experienced first hand.

Iconic Motorsport Adventures provides a self drive tour utilising modern RV motorhomes which enables the avid motorsport fan to park in RV parks at the circuit. This way you will experience all the tradition and party atmosphere that goes with an event like the Indianapolis 500.  (Click here for more details on RVs)

The atmosphere on race day is electric, with everybody anticipating the action which is about to occur. Indy has a lot of traditions on race day from Jim Nabors (alias Gomer Pile), singing Back Home in Indiana, through to Mari Hulman George saying those legendary words, "Ladies and Gentlemen START YOUR ENGINES".

As the balloons rise into the air you know there is not long to go. This year Scott Dixon didn't have lady luck on his side again when he lost his front wheel in one of his pitstops. His drive back through the field was great and fifth place at the end secured valuable points. Dario Franchitti was a popular winner after leading for most of the race. It was a very exciting race with fuel strategy playing a big part in the late stages with everyone running on empty tanks.

Join Iconic Motorsport Adventures' 2011 Indianapolis 500 tour and see if Scott Dixon can triumph once again.  (Click here for full package details)
